Jared Austin is the Co-Founder and Superintendent/CEO of Kairos Public Schools, a mission-driven charter school organization located in Vacaville, California, focused on developing student leaders. With over 20 years of experience in public charter schools as a teacher, principal, and CEO. Jared has dedicated his career to creating student-centered learning environments that bring innovation, service to others, and excellence.

Kairos Public Schools has grown into a model of academic achievement and operational excellence, consistently recognized for its commitment to high standards, family engagement, and community partnerships. Jared’s work reflects a belief in the power of public school choice to meet the needs of today’s students.

Jared was appointed by the California State Board of Education to serve on the Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS) in 2017, 2020, and 2021. He also represents Solano and Contra Costa Counties on the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) Member Council, working collaboratively with leaders across the state to shape charter school advocacy and policy. Additionally, Jared serves on the Board of Directors for Charter Safe Insurance JPA. 

On top of his work in K–12 education, Jared has served as an adjunct professor in the Educational Leadership department at Touro University, where he helps prepare and mentor future school leaders. Whether in the classroom, at the state capitol, or in boardrooms, Jared Austin remains a committed advocate for educational choices, always championing students, families, and the educators.

Leslie Shebley, Co-Founder & Chief Development & Operations Officer - Leslie is a Co-Founder and the Chief of Development & Operations Officer at Kairos Public Schools. She has with over 15 years of experience in public charter schools including as an Independent Study Teacher and Principal. Prior to co-founding and working at Kairos Public Schools, Leslie worked at Buckingham Charter Magnet High School (BCMHS), supporting students through their independent study program. Leslie is actively involved in the APLUS Network, advocating for the personalized learning needs of Flex-Based Learning students across the State of California. In previous years, Leslie has led trainings on learning and teaching styles with an emphasis on supporting individuals at all levels. As a result of being home schooled herself (from K-12), she has a passion for helping families to succeed by providing a quality education that fits the specific needs of each student.

Christina Patterson,  Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Currently serving as the CFO, Christina has leveraged over 25 years of hands-on experience in the private sector as a financial controller. Her extensive finance background equips her with a strategic understanding of fiscal management, budgeting, and financial planning. This, coupled with her role as a founding parent and volunteer, positions her uniquely to contribute a comprehensive perspective to our administration team. Christina's commitment to financial excellence aligns seamlessly with the organization's goals, fostering sound financial practices and contributing to overall success.

Betsy Madigan, Director of Student Services-

Betsy Madigan has worked in education since 2010. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development from UC Davis, a multi-subject Teaching Credential and Master’s degree in Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and a Master’s degree in School Psychology from Alliant International University.

As a teacher, Betsy taught across a wide range of grade levels. She began in early childhood education, later taught middle school English Language Learners, and served as a Behavior Intervention Support Coordinator as a teacher on special assignment. She then went on to teach 2nd and 3rd grade, where her inclusive approach helped all students—especially those with disabilities—exceed local performance on the 2015 CAASPP.

 

In 2016, Betsy moved into school leadership at a charter school in Sacramento, where she led Special Education, mental health, restorative justice, and ELD programs. She joined Kairos in 2019 as Special Education Coordinator and, as the organization expanded, stepped into the role of Director of Student Services in 2023. Betsy remains deeply committed to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Patricia Hobbs, Principal- Foundations & Leadership Academies - Patricia Hobbs is one of the founding teachers at Kairos Public Schools. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Mathematics from California State University, Fresno. Her teaching career began at Central Unified School District at McKinley Elementary School  in Fresno where she taught Kindergarten for two years before moving to  5th and 6th Grade as the GATE Cluster Teacher for 8 years. In 2014 after moving to the Sacramento Area, she accepted a position with Kairos as the middle school math teacher. During her tenure, she  developed the math curriculum for middle school that consistently allowed Kairos Scholars to outperform their peers on the SBAC state assessments. As a member of the Kairos Team, she has been the Instructional Team Leader for Middle School and a TOSA (teacher on special assignment) with duties including curriculum oversight and development, staff training, data collection and analysis, development of the Response to Intervention Program, and Induction Mentoring for new teachers. In addition to teaching, her extra curricular activities included Track and Field and Cross Country Coach, and Advisor for Yearbook, Student Council and Math Team.

Jon Sibug, Vice Principal & Operations Coordinator- Foundations & Leadership Academies-  Jon Sibug was raised in the peninsula of the Bay Area, a first-generation Filipino-American. After graduating with a BA in Religious Studies from UC Berkeley in 2004, he moved to Vacaville to pursue pastoral and teaching opportunities. His background includes work focusing on community and connectivity. Jon served on the Kairos Board of Directors as an advisor and Board member from 2020-2022 before joining the team as the Operations and Accountability Coordinator. Jon has a background in private schools, charter schools and homeschool. Jon’s interests include leadership development, smart technology, and anything related to the creative arts.
